The 2024 GSOE Wind team is City College’s first ever wind energy dedicated student organization participating in the Collegiate Wind Competition. We aim to expose students across a wide range of disciplines, interests, and undergraduate majors to the possibilities of working in wind energy and other renewable energy industries. We are a joint electrical and mechanical capstone engineering project collaborating with students representing various majors including but not limited to environmental engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, biology, and political science. The team is currently competing in four contests of the CWC; turbine design and turbine testing, connection creation, and project development. Throughout the course of the competition we hope to gain a wealth of knowledge in the sustainable energy sector while sharing our findings with our campus and the local community. Given NYC’s prime location for Offshore Wind development, we hope to encourage and prepare students to pursue careers in this exciting field!
